Intelligence Bureau (Ministry of Home Affairs) is recruiting Junior Intelligence Officer Grade-II/Tech for 394 posts (Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial). The post carries a pay scale of Level-4 ₹25,500 – ₹81,100 with applicable Central Government allowances and a Special Security Allowance (SSA) @20% of basic pay. Service is liable to All-India transfer.
Karnataka note: This is a Central Government recruitment with no Karnataka-specific vacancies. However, exam centres are available in Karnataka (Belagavi, Bengaluru, Hubballi, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Udupi).

Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Engineering in: Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunication / Electronics & Communication / Electrical & Electronics / Information Technology / Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Computer Applications; OR
- B.Sc. with Electronics or Computer Science or Physics or Mathematics; OR
- BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications).
Qualification must be from a Government-recognized University/Institute; results must be declared on or before the closing date.
Age Limit
Minimum 18 years; Maximum 27 years as on 14-09-2025.
- SC/ST: +5 years; OBC: +3 years
- Departmental candidates (Central Govt. civilian employees) with 3 years regular & continuous service: up to 40 years
- Widows/Divorced/Women judicially separated & not remarried: UR up to 35, OBC up to 38, SC/ST up to 40 years
- Ex-Servicemen: as per Central Government rules
- Meritorious sportspersons: relaxation up to 5 years (as per DoP&AR OM)

All candidates | Recruitment Processing Charges: ₹550 |
Male candidates of UR/EWS/OBC | ₹100 (Examination Fee) + ₹550 (Processing) = ₹650 |
Exemptions: SC/ST, all females, and eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempt from the ₹100 Examination Fee (they still pay ₹550 Processing). Banking charges (if any) are borne by candidates. Fee is non-refundable.
How to Apply
- Registration (Step-I): Fill personal & contact details to get Application Sequence Number (login ID) and password via email.
- Complete Form (Step-II): Re-login; choose category; fill personal & qualification details; upload photo & signature; pay fee.
- Uploads: Photo 35mm × 45mm, recent color, JPG/JPEG, 100–200 KB; Signature JPG/JPEG, 80–150 KB.
- Payment: Online through SBI ePay Lite (cards, net banking, UPI) or SBI challan (offline within deadline).
- Preview & Submit: Verify entries; once submitted, you cannot edit. Keep printout/acknowledgment for records.
Use a valid email & mobile number throughout the process. Carry original ID and identical photos at exam/verification stages.
Salary
- Pay Matrix: Level-4 ₹25,500 – ₹81,100
- Special Security Allowance (SSA): 20% of basic pay
- Cash Compensation: In lieu of duty on holidays (subject to ceiling of 30 days)
- Other Allowances: As admissible under Central Government rules
Selection Process
- Tier-I (Online MCQ, 100 marks, 2 hours): General Mental Ability (25%) + Subjects per essential qualification (75%). Negative marking: ¼ mark per wrong answer.
- Tier-II (Skill Test, 30 marks): Practical/technical, as per job profile.
- Tier-III (Interview/Personality Test, 20 marks)
Tier-I cut-offs (out of 100): UR 35, EWS 35, OBC 34, SC/ST 33. Shortlisting for Tier-II & Tier-III is generally up to 5× vacancies, subject to cut-offs and normalization. Final merit is based on combined Tier-I+II+III, followed by verification and medical.
Tie-breakers (if needed): marks in Tier-I → Tier-II → Tier-III → older age → alphabetical order of first name.
