Educational & Other Essential Qualifications
- Matriculation (10th) from a recognized board.
- Valid LMV (Motor Car) driving licence issued by competent authority.
- Knowledge of Motor Mechanism (ability to remove minor defects).
- Driving experience of at least 1 year after obtaining LMV licence (experience certificate from eligible orgs).
- Domicile certificate of the State against which the candidate applies (e.g., Karnataka for Bengaluru SIB).
Desirable: Valid Motorcycle driving licence.
Application Fee
- All candidates: Recruitment Processing Charges ₹550
- Male UR/EWS/OBC: Exam Fee ₹100 + RPC ₹550 = ₹650
- SC/ST, Female, eligible ESM: Exam fee exempt; pay only RPC ₹550
- ESM already in Central Govt Group ‘C’ job: Pay exam fee ₹100 + RPC ₹550
Mode: SBI ePay Lite (Cards/NetBanking/UPI) or SBI challan. Fees non-refundable; bank charges extra (if any).
Age Limit (as on 28 September 2025)
- 18–27 years (general rule).
- Relaxations: SC/ST +5 yrs; OBC +3 yrs; Central Govt. civilian employees with 3+ yrs service up to 40 yrs (as per rules); Widows/Divorced/Judicially separated women: up to 35 yrs (UR), 38 yrs (OBC), 40 yrs (SC/ST); Ex-servicemen: as per GoI norms; Meritorious sportspersons: up to +5 yrs (as notified).

Selection Process
Tier-I (Online — 100 marks, 1 hour)
- 5 parts × 20 marks: General Awareness, Transport/Driving Rules, Quant, Reasoning, English
- Negative marking: −0.25 per wrong answer
- Category cut-offs (out of 100): UR 30, EWS 30, OBC 28, SC/ST 25
- ~10× vacancies shortlisted for Tier-II (subject to cut-off variation)
Tier-II (50 marks — Qualifying)
- Driving test + Motor Mechanism test + Interview
- Minimum qualifying: 40% in Tier-II
- Final merit: Combined Tier-I + Tier-II (subject to verification & medical)
Salary & Allowances
- Pay Level-3: ₹21,700 – 69,100 (Pay Matrix)
- Special Security Allowance (SSA): 20% of basic pay
- Cash compensation in lieu of duty on holidays (capped at 30 days), plus other admissible Central Govt. allowances
How to Apply (Online)
- Go to the MHA website or NCS portal and complete Step-I registration to get Application Sequence No. (ASN) & password.
- Login and fill Step-II: personal & qualification details, upload photo (50–100 KB) and signature (50–100 KB) (JPG/JPEG), and pay fee.
- Fee payment: Online via SBI ePay Lite or generate e-challan and deposit at bank (within validity).
- Select your SIB carefully (e.g., Bengaluru for Karnataka); it cannot be changed later.
- Choose up to 5 exam cities for Tier-I (you may be allotted any one).
- Submit and save/print the application & payment acknowledgement for future reference.
Tip for Karnataka: Apply against Bengaluru SIB if you hold a Karnataka domicile. Keep domicile, DL and experience proofs ready for verification.
