KSET 2025 Notification — Karnataka State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor
Government of Karnataka has directed the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to conduct the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) 2025 for recruitment eligibility to the post of Assistant Professor. The test will be held on 02 November 2025 (Sunday) in a single session (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM). Applications are accepted online only. There is no upper age limit to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
- PG Percentage: Minimum 55% (General). 50% for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender/OBC (Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB). No rounding off.
- Students in PG: First/second-year PG or result-awaited candidates may apply provisionally; must obtain the required % within 2 years from KSET result.
- Subject Choice: Must appear in the relevant PG subject. If the subject isn’t in KSET list, appear in UGC-NET/CSIR-NET.
- PhD concession: PG completed by 19 Sept 1991 gets 5% relaxation (55 → 50).
- Reservation: Only as per Karnataka lists; Other State candidates get no reservation and must meet the 55% General criterion.
- Repeaters: Already qualified in the same subject cannot re-appear; if they do, current application is cancelled and previous eligibility is de-notified.
- Age Limit: No upper age limit.
Exam Pattern & Syllabus 📝
- Date & Session: 02 Nov 2025 (Sunday), 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (single session).
- Paper I: 50 compulsory MCQs × 2 marks = 100 marks; teaching/research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, general awareness.
- Paper II: 100 compulsory MCQs × 2 marks = 200 marks; based on the chosen subject.
- Syllabus: Syllabi for all 33 subjects are available on the KEA website.
- OMR: Responses are marked on OMR sheets.
Application Process & Fees 💻
- Mode: Online only via KEA portal. Other modes are not accepted.
- Fees: ₹1,000 (General, Cat-IIA/IIB/IIIA/IIIB, Other-State) • ₹700 (Cat-I, SC, ST, PwD, Transgender). Non-refundable.
- Payment: Online payment only (as prescribed by KEA).
- Documents: Upload scanned images in JPEG as per size rules. Keep a print of the final application for records.

Note: Once selected, the test centre cannot be changed.

Result & Qualifying Criteria
- Minimum Aggregate (Papers I+II): 40% for General; 35% for reserved categories (Cat-I/IIA/IIB/IIIA/IIIB, SC, ST, PwD, Transgender).
- Slots: 6% of total candidates (who appeared in both papers) are declared qualified; merit list is subject-wise & category-wise based on aggregate marks.
- Negative Marking: No negative evaluation for incorrect answers.
