Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Stages of Selection

CBT-1 (Screening)

Common objective test for all UG posts. Normalization if multi-session; Negative marking: 1/3 per wrong answer.

CBT-2 (Merit)

Post-wise second stage. Merit primarily from CBT-2 (subject to qualifying TST wherever applicable).

Typing Skill Test (TST)

Qualifying only; held on computer for clerk/typist posts. Speed required: English 30 wpm or Hindi 25 wpm.

Document Verification (DV)

Originals for age, 10+2, community, PwBD, service, etc., verified as per CEN 07/2025.

Medical Fitness

Railway post-specific standards (B2, C2, A3) to be met for appointment.

Shortlisting to CBT-2: up to 15× the community-wise vacancies (RRBs may vary). Negative marking: 1/3 per wrong answer in both CBTs; unanswered = 0. Normalization applies for multi-session exams. Scribe facility: eligible candidates get 120 minutes. Eligible PwBD may be exempted from TST per CEN/FAQs. Final allotment depends on post options, merit (CBT-2), medical fitness and reservation rules.
