Selection Process

1

1st Stage CBT (Common)

90 mins (120 mins for scribe). 100 Qs → GA 40, Mathematics 30, General Intelligence & Reasoning 30. Negative marking: 1/3 per wrong answer. Shortlisting: candidates up to 15× vacancies (community-wise) for CBT-2 based on normalized marks.

2

2nd Stage CBT (Common)

90 mins (120 mins for scribe). 120 Qs → GA 50, Mathematics 35, Reasoning 35. Negative marking: 1/3 per wrong answer. Normalized marks of CBT-2 are used for further shortlisting (CBAT/CBTST) and for final merit as applicable.

3

CBAT — Aptitude Test (Only for SM & Traffic Assistant)

Qualifying in nature. Candidate must secure a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery—no relaxation for any community/category. Final merit for Station Master / Traffic Assistant is drawn with 70% weight of normalized CBT-2 marks + 30% weight of CBAT (among those who qualify CBAT).

4

CBTST — Typing Skill Test (Only for JAA & Senior Clerk)

Qualifying in nature. Typing speed: 30 wpm (English) or 25 wpm (Hindi) on computer. Eligible PwBD candidates with proper exemption certificate are exempted from CBTST; they must qualify other stages.

5

Document Verification (DV) & Medical

Shortlisting to DV/Medical is strictly on merit (community-wise) based on normalized marks in required tests (and CBAT/CBTST status where applicable). Medical standards are post-specific (A2/B2/C2 etc.).

How to Apply (Online Only)

Register on your chosen RRB portal with mobile number & email, then keep them active throughout the process (can’t be changed later). Note your Registration Number safely.

Fill the application: choose exam language (English/Hindi/13 regional), give zone preferences, and enter accurate personal, category, and qualification details. Only one application is allowed—multiple to same/different RRBs leads to rejection/debarment.

Capture LIVE photo using webcam or phone front camera inside the form (no pre-existing photos). Face centered, eyes open, no cap/mask/glasses; wear non-white clothing for contrast. You can re-capture before final submit.

Upload signature (JPG/JPEG, black ink on white paper, running handwriting) as per size/dimension specs. Upload other documents only if asked (e.g., SC/ST certificate for free train pass).

Pay the application fee through the permitted modes on the RRB portal only. Application is accepted after successful fee confirmation (you’ll get email/SMS).

Submit & download the final application PDF/acknowledgement for records.
