Railway Recruitment Cell, Southern Railway (SR) has invited applications for training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 across multiple workshops/divisions. Selection is on a merit basis from Class 10th and ITI marks, followed by document verification and medical fitness. This is a training engagement (not a permanent Government job).

🎓 Educational Qualification

  • 10th Class / SSLC (10+2 system) with at least 50% marks (aggregate).
  • ITI (NCVT/SCVT) certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institute.
  • Note: Engineering graduates/diploma holders are not eligible for trade apprentice seats under this notification.
  • Originals must be produced during Document Verification. Trade mapping should match the notified slots.

💳 Application Fee

  • ₹100 — for UR/OBC/EWS candidates.
  • Nil — for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates.

✅ Selection Process

  1. Merit List based on 10th and ITI marks (trade-wise, unit-wise).
  2. Document Verification at the allotted unit/workshop for shortlisted candidates.
  3. Medical Fitness as per Railway standards before executing the apprenticeship contract.

No written exam/interview is generally conducted for trade apprentices unless specifically notified.

  • During the 2nd year of apprenticeship, the prescribed minimum stipend increases by 10%; during the 3rd year, it increases by an additional 15%.
  • Any training already undergone in a school/other institution recognized by the National/State Council will be considered while determining the minimum payable stipend.
  • Stipend is governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961 and applicable rules/board rates.

ℹ️ Apprentice Engagement — Not a Permanent Job

Engagement is purely for training. It does not confer any right to absorption in Railways or claim for Government service. After successful training, a National Apprenticeship Certificate is awarded. (In future Railway Level-1 recruitments, course-completed Act Apprentices may get reservation benefits as per extant rules.)
