Selection Process — Department of Technical Education Recruitment 2025 (FDA & SDA — RPC & KK)

Selection will be through an Offline OMR-based Competitive Examination conducted by KEA, followed by document verification. Final merit will be prepared post-verification, post-wise and reservation-wise.

Paper-1 — General Knowledge
Topics include current affairs, general science, Indian history & geography (with emphasis on Karnataka), Indian Constitution, public administration, rural development, economy, environment, mental ability/reasoning, etc.

Paper-2 — Language & Computer
General Kannada, General English, and Computer Knowledge (basics of OS, office tools, internet/email, typing conventions).
Marks: 100  |  Duration: 2 hours
  • Mandatory Kannada Test: Required only for candidates who have not studied Kannada as 1st/2nd language in SSLC or not passed a prior Kannada test. It is qualifying in nature; marks are not added to merit.
  • Negative Marking: ¼ (one-fourth) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. OMR has a fifth circle for “no attempt”; leaving a question blank without shading the fifth circle will also attract ¼ negative.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must secure the minimum cut-off as fixed by KEA (category-wise) in the competitive exam.
  • Exam Centres: Major district centres in Karnataka (e.g., Bengaluru, Mysuru, Dharwad/Belagavi, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Ballari/Koppal, Vijayapura, Tumakuru, Kalaburagi), subject to KEA allocation.
  • Tie-Breaking: As per KEA rules (higher Paper-1 marks, age seniority, etc. if applicable).
  • Documents Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates for age, education, reservation, and other claims on the scheduled date.
